A lawmaker at Nigeria’s 10th National Assembly has taken a critical swipe at the progress Nigeria has made as a country at 63.
Speaking on the floor of the green chamber at the National Assembly on Wednesday 4th October, Hon. Nnamdi Prince EZECHI, Member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency of Delta State at the National Assembly stated that Nigeria has no cause to celebrate at 63 as a nation.
He decried a situation where Nigeria as the 6th ranked crude oil producing nation has no refinery and depends on the importation of premium motor spirit also known as petrol from the exported crude .
“It is appalling that Nigeria as the 6th crude oil producing country in the world has no refinery. Crude oil is exported by Nigeria and it becomes an import commodity carting away Nigerian jobs and given rise to the untold hardship witnessed by citizens at the removal of the fuel subsidy regime “

Also, Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi lamented the exploitation of communities producing golden eggs for Nigeria’s economy.
In giving oxygen to his advocacy, Hon. Ezechi disclosed that he will not rest until the ‘Step-Down’ operation of the IPP-Independent Power Plant -project in the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency is accomplished.
Interestingly, Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi,a former Supervisory Councilor of works who rose to become a Delta state Commissioner, applauded the Delta State Governor, RT.Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for commissioning loads of road projects in the state and making payments of over 3 billion naira of pension funds to Delta pensioners.
Hon.Ezechi reiterated his commendation of the management of palliatives by states where he particularly lauded Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the increased payment of 15 billion naira in the state beyond the 5billion naira that was provided by the Federal Government .
The parliamentarian stressed that Governor Sheriff also provided dozens of vehicles to facilitate public transportation for the masses of Delta in the face of the aftermath of the removal of the fuel subsidy regime.
In appreciating the Federal Government’s mitigating measures in providing palliatives for the citizenry, the Honourable Member representing Ndokwa/ Ukwuani Federal Constituency of Delta State at the 10th National Assembly reiterated that he will leave no stone unturned in seeking for redress to economic and socio-political ills as injustice perpetrated against his constituents and Nigerians at large.
