Determined to bring about a new lease of life to the residents of the FCT, the Honourable Minister of State, FCT, HE Dr. Ramatu Tijani Aliyu has reiterated her disposition to going all out in shoring up the livelihoods of the women, youths, orphans and elderly residents of the FCT.
According to a statement on the Abuja Review current affairs program on Kukuruku Radio 105.9FM with Collins Vershima,
the Mandate Secretary of the Social Development Secretariat, FCTA, Hajia Hadiza Kabiru Mohammed disclosed that the Social Development Secretariat will not back down on the social welfare educational empowerment program which Dr. Ramatu Tijani Aliyu, the Minister of State ,FCT introduced.
Whilst speaking on the Abuja Review, Dr. Sani Amar Rabe, Director Social Welfare Services-FCTA, representing the Mandate Secretary,SDS, Hajia Hadiza Kabiru Mohammed stated that, the Social Development Secretariat under Hajia Hadiza’s watch has introduced robust empowerment programs for indigents, sex workers, ‘almajiris, orphans, rural women and youths in the FCT.
Dr.Sani Amar Rabe mentioned that, nothwithstanding the paucity of funds challenge,the Mandate Secretary has not failed to deliver on the enhanced mandate of the SDS, which among many things include improving the source of livelihoods of FCT residents and its rural dwellers.
Dr. Sani Rabe enumerated the achievements of the SDS as educational empowerment of the indigent youths amongst many. He also mentioned that sex workers have been re-oriented within the FCT as capacity building for rural women and youths occupy the front burner of Hajia Hadiza’s administration of the Social Development Secretariat- SDS.
Sani Rabe re-emphasized that the SDS had enrolled well over 3000 indigent residents of the FCT on a ‘Social Educational Empowerment program’ which started in November 2022 and was held again in February 2023. He stated that the educational empowerment program for the FCT residents will be continued in June 2023 to generate capacity required for sustainable development in nation building.
Earlier, Sani disclosed that the Social Development Secretariat is open to the delivery of the social development services to all for free including the educational empowerment program.
He maintained that the said achievements are sustained under the leadership of the Honourable Minister of State, FCT, Her Excellency Dr. Ramatu Tijani Aliyu.
To this end, Sani concluded that Hajia Hadiza Kabiru Mohammed has brought into fruition the objectives of the Social Development Secretariat without fail as the Mandate Secretary
