Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is set to Inaugurate a Committee today to address the Demands of Labor Leaders in the State for a Wage Review.
The Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and other Labor Organizations submitted a letter to Governor Seyi Makinde on October 3, 2023, Urging him to Implement the Agreements reached between the National Labor Leaders of NLC/TUC and the Federal Government of Nigeria.
In their letter titled “Re: Suspension of Nationwide Industrial Action,” signed by Kayode Martins (NLC chairman), Bosun Olabiyi (TUC chairman), Fabunmi Olumuyiwa (NLC Secretary), Babatunde Balogun (TUC Secretary), Oluwaseun Olanipekun, and Tunde Mustapha, the labor leaders emphasized the need for Governor Makinde to Replicate the Agreements at the State level.
The letter highlighted that Governor Makinde, as the leader of the Pacesetter State, could take additional steps to enhance the Welfare of Workers.
In related news, Chief Olumuyiwa Makinde, the Governor’s brother, was recently elevated and Installed as Bada Olubadan, a Traditional title in Ibadan. Dr. Bisi Olawuyi, the President of the Senior Staff Club University of Ibadan, extended Congratulations to Chief Olumuyiwa Makinde on this deserving Honor.
He encouraged Chief Makinde to use his Wealth of experience to Contribute fresh Ideas to address Social Issues in Ibadan and assured the Club’s support in fulfilling the Mandates of his new Traditional Office.
