All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, has urged Edo Governor-Elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, to prioritize governance and avoid conflicts with outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki. Ganduje made this appeal during a “thank you” visit by the Edo APC delegation, led by Okpebholo, to the party secretariat in Abuja.
Ganduje emphasized that a progressive government should focus on delivering promises to the people, rather than engaging in unnecessary fights with its predecessor ¹. He encouraged Okpebholo to focus on the manifesto he campaigned with, build bridges, and establish good relationships with stakeholders.
Okpebholo won the election with 291,667 votes, defeating Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (247,274 votes) and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (22,763 votes) ¹. Despite his victory, Okpebholo has been at odds with the outgoing administration, accusing officials of looting.

Ganduje’s advice was echoed in Okpebholo’s speech, where he thanked Ganduje, APC governors, and President Bola Tinubu for securing the state and ensuring peace during the election. Okpebholo praised Tinubu for maintaining order, contrary to predictions of violence.
