The Department of State Service (DSS) has confirmed the release of Abdulrasheed Bawa, the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), from their Custody.
Bawa, who was arrested by the DSS in mid-June following his Suspension by President Bola Tinubu, spent 134 days in Detention.
According to a statement from the DSS, Bawa has reunited with his family amid the celebration.
The details of the Investigation that led to his Detention were not disclosed by the Presidency or the DSS.
The former EFCC Chairman’s removal from Office follows a pattern similar to that of his predecessors, including Ibrahim Magu, Ibrahim Lamorde, and Farida Waziri.
President Tinubu recently appointed Ola Olukoyede as the new EFCC chairman to replace Bawa, and the Nigerian Senate has confirmed Olukayode as Chairman and Muhammad Hammajoda as the Secretary of the Anti-graft agency.
