The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has taken a Decisive step by Revoking land Allocations belonging to several Prominent Individuals and Corporate Establishments in Abuja.
The move comes as part of efforts to Enforce the Development terms stipulated in the Right of Occupancy agreements for these Lands.
A Notice Issued by FCT’s Permanent Secretary, Olusade Adesola, on Thursday, confirmed that the lands of the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 Election, Peter Obi, and former Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke, were among the 165 Plots for which the Certificate of Occupancy was Revoked.
According to the Notice, the Revocation was carried out under the Powers Vested in the FCT Minister by Section 28(5)(a) & (b) of the Land Use Act of 1978.
The Primary reason Cited for this action was the failure of the Landowners to Develop the Allocated Plots as Stipulated in their Right of Occupancy Agreements.
The affected Individuals also Include former Minister of National Planning, Udo Udoma; former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Ufot Ekaette; former Edo North senator, Victor Oyofo; and the late publisher of Leadership newspaper, Sam Nda-Isaiah.
