Amidst speculations, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has provided Clarity on his recent Meeting with the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman.
Wike dismissed Claims suggesting that he expressed Support for Israel against Palestine, emphasizing that he holds no Authority to determine Nigeria’s Diplomatic relations with other Nations.
Speaking during a meeting with the Leadership of the Abuja National Mosque Management Board, Wike underscored that decisions regarding Foreign Relations lie solely within the Jurisdiction of the President and Commander-in-Chief.
He stressed that any Foreign engagement would require the approval of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Wike elucidated that the purpose of the meeting was centered on fostering Agricultural Partnerships to benefit FCT Farmers and bolster the Region’s agricultural Sector.
He further emphasized the Importance of Fostering harmonious Relationships and promoting Development within the Community.
The clarification from Wike comes in the wake of Criticism following Freeman’s Visit to the FCT Minister, before the escalation of the Conflict between Hamas and Israel.
Although some Critics accused Wike of extending Nigeria’s Support to Israel, the Minister reiterated that the meeting was Primarily focused on exploring Agricultural and Technological Collaborations beneficial to the FCT.
Meanwhile, in a separate Development, Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) and the Ijaw National Congress (INC) Issued a warning to Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi, a Muslim cleric, cautioning him against sowing discord in the Country.
The Southern Organizations specifically refuted Gumi’s call for the removal of Wike as the FCT Minister.
