The Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti; Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo; and the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, Oyo State, have secured full accreditation for several academic programmes.

While EKSU received the National Universities Commission’s nod for 18 programmes, ACU secured full accreditation for nine, and the Ayede Polytechnic got the National Board for Technical Education’s approval for four National Diploma programmes.

A letter signed by the NUC’s Acting Director of Accreditation, Abraham Chundusu, dated April 30, 2025, conveyed the commission’s approval of EKSU’s postgraduate and undergraduate programmes.

The accredited EKSU programmes include Master’s degrees in Personnel Management, Finance, Public Administration, Business Administration, Arts, Arabic Studies, Islamic Studies, and Philosophy.

Others are Building and Woodwork Technology Education, Electrical and Electronic Technology Education, Metal and Auto Mechanic Technology Education, Education Christian Religious Studies, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Law, Geology, and Psychology.

According to a statement by the Head of EKSU’s Directorate of Information, Bode Olofinmuagun, on Monday, the accreditation followed the NUC’s October/November 2024 exercise.

Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor of EKSU, Prof. Babatola Ayodele, described the accreditation as “a dream come true and a product of tireless efforts by the academic and administrative staff of the university.”

He added, “The development reaffirms EKSU’s growing reputation as the best state university in Nigeria, according to the Times Higher Education 2025 university rankings. The university remains committed to meeting the educational needs of Nigerian youth in cutting-edge and relevant fields.”

At Ajayi Crowther University, the NUC granted full accreditation to Nursing, Environmental Health Science, Christian Religious Studies, History and International Studies, Music, Performing Arts, Law, Mathematics, and Statistics programmes.

The commission also approved the Master of Business Administration programme, as indicated in a letter dated April 30, 2025, and signed by Chundusu.

The NUC conducted the assessment visit to ACU between October and November 2024.

Regarding the milestone, ACU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Timothy Adebayo, said the outcome reflects the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and integrity.

This full accreditation strengthens our position as a leading institution in the delivery of world-class education and research,” Adebayo stated.

“ACU’s success mirrors years of dedication to academic and infrastructural development. On behalf of the University Senate and Governing Council, I thank the NUC for its transparent process and commend our staff and students for their role in achieving this feat.”

Meanwhile, the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, is also celebrating the NBTE’s full accreditation of four National Diploma programmes: Computer Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Science Laboratory Technology, and Statistics.

In addition, the NBTE approved the commencement of a new ND programme in Office Technology and Management.

A statement by the institution’s Protocol and Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sunday Adepoju, noted that the accreditation exercise took place from April 10 to 12, 2025.

The Rector, Dr. Taofeek Abdul-Hameed, described the development as a testament to the school’s drive for excellence in technical and vocational education.

In a further endorsement of our academic growth, the NBTE has also approved the commencement of the Office Technology and Management programme in the School of Management Sciences. With these approvals, we now run 13 ND programmes,” he said.

Abdul-Hameed pledged that the institution would not relent in its quest for greater academic heights.

Previously accredited ND programmes at the polytechnic include Accountancy, Business Administration and Management, Public Administration, Urban and Regional Planning, Estate Management and Valuation, Tourism Management Technology, Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology, and Agricultural Technology.
