The Edo State Vehicle Recovery Committee has successfully retrieved 30 government-owned vehicles from officials of the immediate past administration, according to Chairman Kelly Okungbowa. This announcement was made on Thursday, and the development was disclosed in a statement issued by Fred Itua, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Monday Okpebholo.
The recovery efforts were facilitated by whistleblowers who provided critical information, including the retrieval of four vehicles from a former high-ranking official’s residence and another from a separate individual. Okungbowa commended the whistleblowers for their instrumental role in the recoveries.

Recoveries and Rewards
The committee recovered two Land Cruiser Jeeps and two Toyota Hilux vehicles from a former high-ranking official, with one of the vehicles containing campaign posters and umbrellas. Another Hilux vehicle was also recovered, bringing the total number of vehicles retrieved to 30.
Okungbowa assured Edo residents that more recoveries would be made before the two-week deadline set for the committee to complete its mandate. The committee is committed to rewarding anyone who provides helpful tips, and they appeal to the public for more information to aid their operations.
Committee’s Determination
The committee is determined to ensure that all government assets are accounted for and returned to the state. They are prepared to travel nationwide to recover state-owned vehicles wherever they are found. Previously, the committee had recovered three vehicles, including one Hilux van and two Toyota Hiace buses, with one of the buses containing bags of rice meant for palliatives intended for Edo residents.
