Earthquake measured at 5.5 magnitude reportedly rocked Indonesia on Thursday afternoon, February 9, killing about 4 persons.
According to Indonesia’s geophysics agency, the four persons were killed after a floating restaurant called Cryptia Cafe in Jayapura, collapsed into the sea, during the earthquake.
The victims, all women, could not flee when the the building collapsed, which trapped them under the rubble. Their lifeless bodies were pulled out of the Jayapura Bay by responders who visited the scene.
The agency further revealed that several aftershocks occured after the main one, leaving infrastructure like the Jayapura mall damaged and othe residents with various degrees of injuries
