The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 17, comprising Ondo and Ekiti States, Musibau Omolabi, has said community policing and inclusiveness of stakeholders would be adopted to tackle criminalities in the zone.
Omolabi, who officially resumed in the headquarters of the zone on Thursday in Akure, the Ondo State capital, declared that he was ready to collaborate with the people of the zone to ensure the two states were free of kidnapping and other forms of criminalities.
Addressing journalists on his resumption in office, Omolabi urged people of the two states to make police their friends, noting that his office door was open for anyone to give police useful and intelligent information that would curb criminal activities in the zone.

My doors are open to everybody. You people are friends too and I always tell people, don’t be hostile to policemen.That is what the IG is doing.
Robust community policing and inclusiveness; that is our target. That all people, everybody, are partakers in policing.
We are partnering together to ensure the security of our communities. So you are free to enter my office at any time.
We are going to encourage robust information and intelligence from people. And we are going to encourage our policemen.”
The AIG, who said he had prepared his security templates to implement in the zone, vowed that his leadership would create a secured environment that would bring an enviable environment for businesses to triumph.
Omolabi noted that he had met the two commissioners of police in Ondo and Ekiti states and informed them that there would be intensive supervision, training and retraining of personnel.
There will be training and retraining, local training and retraining. And don’t forget the Inspector General of Police, has organized both local and international training for the policemen.
This is to ensure capacity development and professionalism in the police.
So, there are a lot of enlightening programmes for the policemen especially on contemporary policing and use of technology,” he said.
According to him, the leadership of the current Inspector General of Police was greatly concerned about the welfare and well-being of police personnel.
The IGP makes provisions for us to ensure we do our work and when you encourage your policemen, you are going to see they are going to be efficient and efficient in the course of our performing their legal duty,” he stated.
