The Bureau of Public Service Reforms and the Bureau of Public Enterprises have announced plans for greater collaboration to drive efficiency and effectiveness within the public service.

This was disclosed in a statement on Tuesday by the Head, Strategic Communication at the BPSR Aliyu Umar.

The announcement was made during a courtesy visit by BPSR’s Director-General, Mr Dasuki Arabi, to the BPE headquarters in Abuja.

Arabi stated that “The BPSR has been at the forefront of driving reform initiatives across Nigeria’s public sector, with a mandate to initiate, coordinate, and oversee the implementation of reforms.

Arabi emphasised the importance of the collaboration between the two bureaus, highlighting potential areas of synergy including joint reform initiatives, capacity-building programs, and knowledge sharing.

We believe that by working together, we can leverage each other’s strengths and expertise to drive meaningful reforms in the public sector,” he said.

Among the key areas for collaboration, Arabi mentioned joint reform initiatives aimed at improving public service efficiency, capacity-building programs designed to enhance public servants’ skills, and establishing a knowledge-sharing platform for best practices in public sector reforms.

In his welcome address, the DG of BPE expressed his gratitude for the visit and reiterated the importance of the partnership between the two agencies.

He acknowledged BPSR’s critical role in public sector reforms, stating, “The BPSR, under the leadership of Mr. Arabi, has made invaluable contributions to public sector reforms, and we at BPE recognise and appreciate the tireless efforts that have been dedicated to transforming our public service into one that is more responsive, accountable, and capable of meeting the needs of the Nigerian people.”

Gbeleyi also stressed that both agencies share a common vision of improving public service delivery in Nigeria.

Our efforts are complementary, and through collaboration, we can achieve even greater strides in creating a better, more efficient public sector that serves the citizens of this nation,” he said.

Arabi said the visit marked the beginning of an expanded partnership between the two reform-oriented organisations.

We look forward to working closely with you and your team to achieve our shared objectives,” Arabi said.

He reaffirmed BPSR’s commitment to partnering with the BPE for a more effective public service in Nigeria.
