In the latest update from statistics website, Whoscored, Nigeria international Victor Boniface has been ranked joint second best striker in Europe.
Boniface joined Bayer Leverkusen for €20m from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise last transfer window but has blossomed into one of the most dreaded strikers in Europe.
His impressive tally of seven goals and two assists in seven Bundesliga games have seen him pick up the league’s Player of The Month and Rookie of The Month awards for August, while also earning nominations for best player of the month in September.
As per the stats released in the middle of September, the Nigerian also holds the record for the most shots in the Bundesliga this season.
On only the second match-day alone, against Monchengladbach, he fired 11 attempts on Jonas Omlin’s goal, as many as Harry Kane managed across match days 1 and 2.
Boniface’s sheer hard work has left a great impression too; his 54 challenges are the highest in the Bundesliga, while his fierce pressing has helped him win 43 per cent of them.
The 22-year-old striker has been instrumental to Die Werkself’s impressive start to the 2023/24 season as they currently sit top of the Bundesliga table after seven match days
