The Benue State Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Mr. Matthew Abo, has been abducted by Unidentified Gunmen in Zaki Biam, Ukum Local Government Area of the State.
The Incident occurred when Armed Men stormed his private Residence around 8 p.m. on a Sunday, ordering him, his wife, children, and others to lie face down before taking him away at Gunpoint.
Mr. Tahav Agerzua, a former Special Adviser on Media and ICT to the Immediate past Governor of the State, broke the News of the Alleged Kidnapping on his Facebook page. According to Agerzua, Eyewitnesses reported that the Kidnappers arrived at the Commissioner’s residence on four Motorcycles and compelled him to sit behind one of the Riders at Gunpoint while another Gunman accompanied him.
The Commissioner’s current whereabouts remain unknown, and the matter has been reported to the Police.
Matthew Abo was Inaugurated as a member of the Benue State Executive Council on August 29, 2023.
He hails from Ukum LGA, which is part of the Sankera axis of the State, known for frequent attacks, killings, and kidnappings by unknown Gunmen, despite the presence of Security Personnel in the area.
