The Jalingo Local Government Council in Taraba State on Monday, unveiled a N4.8 billion budget for the 2025 fiscal year, focusing on sustainable growth and development across key sectors.

Presenting the budget at the council chamber, the Executive Chairman, Aminu Hassan, described the proposal as a “Budget of Sustainable Growth and Development,” noting that the budget aligned with Governor Agbu Kefas’ Moving Forward Agenda for the state.

Hassan, who described the occasion as a milestone, expressed gratitude to the legislative council and residents of Jalingo for their support in achieving significant progress in 2024.

He added that the 2025 budget was tailored towards the improvement of critical sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment and infrastructure development.

The ₦4.8 billion budget breakdown has a revenue projection of N3.321bn from federal allocation and internally generated revenue while Value Added Tax (VAT) is projected at ₦1.47 billion.

Hassan said, “The budget is allocated across key subheads such as Personnel Costs: ₦1.69 billion representing 35%, Overhead Costs ₦967.4 million representing 20% while capital expenditure is pegged at ₦1.45 billion representing 30%.

Our reserve stabilisation fund is projected at ₦716.5 million and Loan/Debt Servicing: ₦8.3 million, representing 10% and 5% respectively.

This budget reflects a commitment to transparency, accountability, and impactful governance. Robust measures will be implemented to ensure every naira is judiciously utilised to deliver tangible benefits to the people,” he assured.

He called on the council members to diligently scrutinise the budget and collaborate with the executive arm to ensure its effective implementation, stressing the importance of their role in transforming the figures into impactful projects and policies.

Reaffirming his dedication to the development of Jalingo LG, Hassan expressed optimism about achieving unprecedented progress in 2025.

“Together, we can uplift our communities and secure a better future for generations to come,” he noted.
