The Management of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, has disassociated itself from fraudulent employment going around in the name of the hospital.

The Head, Public Relations and Protocol Unit of the ATBUTH, Usman Koli, in a press release issued on Monday, expressed concern on the development.

He said, “The management is deeply dismayed by the disturbing reports of fraudulent activities perpetrated by certain criminal-minded individuals operating within and outside the hospital premises.

“These fraudsters are illegally extorting money from locum staff under the false pretence of converting their temporary appointments to permanent ones.

Equally worrisome is the deceit of innocent members of the public, from whom they collect money while promising fictitious permanent employment opportunities within the hospital.”

Koli explained that the hospital has no connection with unlawful acts, and warned that no individual, group, or agent is authorised to collect money on behalf of the hospital for employment or related matters.

He said all recruitments into the hospital are strictly based on due process, merit, transparency, and the approval of relevant authorities.

Any staff or outsider found engaging in such criminal practices will be identified, exposed, and prosecuted without mercy.

The management views this conduct as not only shameful and unethical but also a serious criminal offence,” he emphasised.

The PRO revealed that the hospital management will no longer tolerate the despicable actions noting that henceforth, anyone caught in the act—whether through rumour or hard evidence—will face immediate disciplinary action or legal prosecution, as appropriate.

The statement noted that management will act decisively against any repeat of such misconduct.

Members of the public and all locum staff are hereby strongly advised to be vigilant, steer clear of unofficial dealings, and report any suspicious offers or solicitation of money for employment,” the statement concluded.
