In a significant turn of events, the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal has overturned the decision of the Kaduna State governorship election petition tribunal, reinstating Uba Sani as the duly elected governor of Kaduna State.
The tribunal had previously nullified Sani’s election victory, following a petition filed by Isah Ashiru, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). However, the Court of Appeal has now ruled in favor of Sani, restoring his mandate as governor.
In a separate case, the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos has also affirmed the election of Francis Nwifuru as Governor of Ebonyi State. A three-member panel of the court delivered the unanimous judgment on Friday, upholding the lower court’s ruling that Nwifuru’s election was valid.

These decisions by the Appeal Court bring an end to the lingering legal challenges surrounding the governorship elections in Kaduna and Ebonyi States, paving the way for both governors to continue their terms in office.
