Ibrahim Lamido of the All Progressives Congress has been declared winner of Saturday’s supplementary election in Sokoto East Senate seat.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Returning Officer, Professor Muhammad Bayawa, declared him winner after announcing the results, in Sokoto on Sunday.
Bayawa said that Lamido polled 112,764 votes to defeat his closet rival, Gwanda Shuaibu of the People Democratic Party, PDP, who scored 107,834 votes.
He added that Abdullahi Dahiru of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) polled 410 votes to place as distant third.
