Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, has retracted his Intention to assume a Ministerial role under President Bola Tinubu’s Administration.
The alleged decision not only entails El-Rufai’s withdrawal from the Ministerial Position but also Involves his Endorsement of Jafaru Ibrahim Sani as his successor. Jafaru Ibrahim Sani, having previously served as a Commissioner in three key Ministries—Local Government, Education, and Environment—within Kaduna State, is proposed as El-Rufai’s replacement.
This development follows the Senate’s decision not to approve the Nominations of El-Rufai, Stella Okotete from Delta State, and Sani A Danladi from Taraba State.
This decision by the Legislative arm of the Red Chamber, led by Senator Godswill Akpabio, cites security checks as the reason for their Non-confirmation.
Out of the 48 Nominees submitted by Tinubu, 45 received Confirmation.
However, sources within the Presidency cited by a Report from Premium Times on Friday state that El-Rufai, a staunch supporter of the President, has declined the Offer to serve as a Minister in the Administration.
It is reported that El-Rufai has Communicated to Tinubu his decision to contribute to National Development as a private citizen while focusing on his Doctoral program at a University in The Netherlands.
The report further states that El-Rufai expressed confidence that Jafaru Ibrahim Sani would be an asset to the Government and offered assurance to the President that Sani would bring Value and resourcefulness to his Role.
In summary, reports suggest that Nasir El-Rufai has declined the Ministerial opportunity and recommended Jafaru Ibrahim Sani as his replacement, while Focusing on his Academic pursuits and contributing to the Nation’s Development as a Private Citizen.
