Over 700 people from China and three ships have visited Nigeria for bilateral relationship.
The Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Chi Jian Chun, said this on Sunday.
Chun said that the visitation of the Chinese envoy, scheduled for July 2 to 6, would also enhance Maritime Security within West Africa.
The visiting Ships were Chinese Navy Escort Task Group (ETG) 162, MSL Destroyer NANNING, MSL Frigate SANYA, and Supply Ship WEISHANHU.
Kukuruku News gathered that MSL Destroyer NANNING made the port call at Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) Berth 21, while the other two ships remained at anchorage.
“This visit demonstrates the harmony and symphony between Nigeria and China,” he said.
“China and Nigeria would continue to work together and promote peace and harmony while also seeking ways to make contributions to the International Community,” the Ambassador added.
He was quoted that he said he believes the visit will deepen the cooperation between both Countries’ Military Sectors so that they can work together to overcome obstacles.
Chun said “We will continue to do more things to facilitate and promote the relationship between the two Countries.”
On his part, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Joseph Akpan, said the Chinese visit will help them fight crimes, especially in the Gulf of Guinea.
This is “especially between the Nigerian Navy and the Chinese Navy and would further help to cement the relationship between the two Countries, ” Akpan said.
According to Akpan, men of the Nigerian Navy will be interacting with them, having some sporting activities, exchange of moments and gifts as well as discuss the future of both Navies, especially on how they can benefit from each other.
