During a recent interview with H. Steph, the beloved Artist, originally from Port Harcourt, shared a revealing account of his upbringing.
He candidly expressed, “I was brought up amidst a Community of individuals involved in criminal activities. It’s quite unbelievable. I spent my childhood in Marine Base, a place in Port Harcourt that was largely avoided by people during my upbringing.”
He continued, “I was surrounded by criminals, thugs, and various illicit activities. Growing up, I witnessed the presence of pipeline vandals, illegal businesses, and the like.
Consequently, I encountered numerous challenges and obstacles along the way. However, I firmly believe that these experiences played a significant role in shaping the person I am today.”
Omah Lay, hailing from Egbeda in the Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria, is a talented Singer and Songwriter who has made significant waves in the Music Industry.
His breakthrough came in early 2020 when his self-produced single titled ‘Bad Influence’ took the internet by storm, rapidly gaining popularity across various Social Media platforms.
Before this breakthrough, Omah Lay initially pursued a career as a Rapper, performing under the stage name Lil King.
However, he eventually transitioned into Songwriting and Music Production, even though his contributions in these roles often went uncredited.
In April 2019, Omah Lay released his first official single, ‘Do Not Disturb,’ followed by ‘Hello Brother’ a month later.
Displaying his versatility and unique style, these songs showcased his talent and caught the attention of Music enthusiasts.
Later, in June 2019, Omah Lay signed with the KeyQaad record label, marking a significant milestone in his career.
Following his signing, Omah Lay took a well-deserved seven-month hiatus, dedicating his time and effort to craft his debut EP titled ‘Get Layd.’ This body of work represented his Artistic growth and showcased his distinct Musical prowess, further solidifying his position in the Music Industry.
