Ahead of the 2023 summer festivals in Spain, two Nigerian artistes have been selected to perform at the event.
The Embassy of Spain in Abuja disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
Vis a Vis is a professional meeting between Spanish cultural promoters and African musicians, which Casa África has been holding for twelve years on the neighbouring continent.
The project aims at enhancing a greater presence of African music on Spanish stages by promoting the winning groups’ tour to the festivals participating in the program and to help generate the cultural industry in Africa.
Out of 125 candidates, 12 Nigerian bands were selected to perform on March 23 and 24 in Lagos, in the presence of Spanish music producers and festival directors, as part of the Nigeria-Spain Vis a Vis cultural joint project.
The two bands selected after performing in front of the Spanish delegation; Ruth Mahogany and the ARB Music Band, from Abuja; and Ara Queen of Drums, from Lagos; will travel to Spain in July to take part in some of the most important Summer festivals that are organized throughout Spain and attract both national and international tourists.
Kukuruku News gathered that the VIS A VIS project is organized by Casa África, Spain’s public diplomacy institution, in conjunction with the Ministry of Information and Culture of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority, and the Spanish Embassy in Nigeria.
