A group, Coalition of South Eastern Young Leaders Association, CSYLA, has urged the All Progressives Congress, APC, to look towards the South East in the next choice of who becomes the Speaker of the House of Reps.
APC, so far, still has the majority of elected members in the National Assembly after February 25 general elections.
Speaking on this Ogwo, Okechukwu Kalu Ph.D, leader of the CSYLA asked the ruling party to consider the Southeastern Region while zoning the various positions of Leadership in the National Assembly, stating that if the Southeast will not get the slot for Senate President, then they should be considered strongly for the Speaker of the House.
The group, in this instance, says that the Spokesperson of the House of Rep. Benjamin Kalu, is best suited for the job.
The association said that they came to this conclusion after a mid week meeting of stakeholders in the South East.
“We believe that the Leadership of the House of Representatives will be better under Rep. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, the current Spokesperson of the House of Representatives.
“We are confident that he will build on the landmark achievements of Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila and Rep. Wase, who brought great innovations on better ways of getting things done in the legislature,” the group said.
