The Kaduna State Government (KDSG) has Announced its Partnership with the State House of Assembly to establish Laws Governing rickety vehicles and Traffic violations within the State.
This Development was revealed during the Official launch of the 2023 Ember Months Campaign by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna Sector Command, in Kaduna.
The Campaign’s theme for this year is “Speed Thrills but Kills: Drive Responsibly and Avoid Overloading.”
Representing Governor Sen. Uba Sani at the event, Hamza Ibrahim, the State Commissioner for Public Works and Infrastructure, highlighted the State Government’s commitment to road Safety.
He mentioned the recent Inauguration of the State Road Safety Advisory Council in line with the Nigerian Road Safety Strategy II, aiming to enhance road Safety within the State.
In addition, the Governor disclosed that the State Government has established five Computerized Vehicle testing Centers to ensure that Vehicles in the State comply with all Safety Standards.
He commended the previous Administration for its Infrastructural Development efforts under the Kaduna State Urban Renewal Project, which Improved the State’s road network and aligned with Global Best Practices and the UN Decade of Action Safe System approach.
Governor Sani reiterated the State Government’s support for FRSC’s Operations in Kaduna and urged the People to Adhere to Safety standards and guidelines for Road Usage.
He emphasized that Road Safety is a collective responsibility and encouraged support for FRSC in their efforts to reduce road Traffic Accidents.
Earlier in the Event, Mr. Kabiru Nadabo, the Sector Commander of FRSC, Kaduna Sector Command, emphasized the Importance of Road Safety during the Ember months, which run from September through December each year.
He discussed FRSC’s Proactive measures to enhance Patrol and Rescue activities, Public enlightenment, and Engagement with Stakeholders to address road Safety challenges.
The Sector Commander noted that the Theme for this year’s Campaign is designed to raise awareness about Compliance with Traffic Rules and Regulations for safer Driving. He acknowledged the reduction in road traffic crashes during the third quarter of 2023 and thanked the Kaduna State Government for its support and collaboration with FRSC.
As part of the event, Hajiya Rabi Abubakar, popularly known as Rabi Dangote, received an Award for being the First Female Tanker Driver in Nigeria.
