Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, revealed on a Sunday that the Country needs Approximately N21 trillion to Effectively address its Housing Deficit.
He made this Statement during a Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Construction of a 500-unit Housing Estate by the Sokoto State Government.
Shettima commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu for his Proactive efforts to tackle the Housing needs of Sokoto State residents and acknowledged that Nigeria’s Housing Deficit remains a significant challenge.
He noted that the Country is currently facing a Housing deficit of 28 million Units, and Bridging this gap would require a substantial investment of N21 trillion.
The Vice President Emphasized the Importance of Initiatives like the Housing Estate project in Sokoto, which aims to provide affordable Housing Solutions for Civil Servants
He commended the Governor for not only taking on this challenge but also for Completing essential Infrastructure Projects like roads and Flyovers.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu, in his remarks, Explained that the Housing Estate would primarily Serve Civil Servants and would be sold to them on an Owner-Occupier Basis once completed.
He highlighted that the Project was Initially Initiated by former Governor Aliyu Wamakko but was later Abandoned by the previous Administration.
The current Administration is Committed to Completing the Project for the benefit of the State’s Workers and the general Public.
The Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Housing Estate Project, which marked the first 100 days in Office for the current Administration, was attended by Prominent Figures, Including Senator Aliyu Wamakko and Senator Abubakar Kyari, among others.
