Ahead of Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly Election, the Federal Government has ordered the closure of all land borders.
In a statement by the spokesperson of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Tony Akuneme, on Thursday in Abuja.
Akuneme said the border closure ordered by NIS Comptroller-General, Isah Jere, will come into effect on election day and would last for 24 hours.
He added that the closure will be effective from 12am on Saturday to 12am on Sunday in order to secure the country from foreign invaders planning to come and vote as Nigerians.
Akuneme said all command comptrollers especially those in the border states are to ensure strict enforcement of this directive.
